There’s only one road between Grand Marais and the tourists who support this lakeshore town’s economy, and the state’s largest road construction project was going to shut it down. We found a way around it. Literally. Swim created the “Scenic Scenic Route” campaign which encouraged travelers to slow down, stop more and truly explore the journey. The campaign included a host of components, including: maps, posters, car games, co-branding opportunities for shops along the re-routed route, and a series of videos which highlighted the reasons to make the trip. And while the traffic was slow, Grand Marais’ tourism numbers were not.
